Metabolic Research

The study of all the metabolites in living organisms and find the correlation between metabolites and physiological and pathological changes is called metabolomics. Since its establishment, metabolomics has developed rapidly and penetrated into many fields, such as disease diagnosis, pharmaceutical research and development, nutritional food science, toxicology, environmental science, botany and other fields closely related to human health care. Stable isotope tracer technique is one of important methods in the metabolism research field. It mainly deduces metabolic pathways and fluxes by analyzing the change rule of stable isotope tracer from precursor to product. The technology makes metabolic studies get great development in above fields, especially in medicine field.

Alfa Chemistry has global experimental and analysis abilities based on our comprehensive technical platforms and professional R&D team. We can provide you with rigorous metabolic studies to ensure reliable analysis results.

Principle of Metabolic Research

The application principle of stable isotope tracer technique in metabolomics is as follows: Firstly, the precursors of the metabolic pathway were labeled by stable isotope, and then the metabolic rule of the stable isotope-labeled compounds in vivo was tracked by NMR, Mass spectrometry and other instruments. Finally, the isotopic peak distribution of intermediate metabolites was used to determine the specific metabolic pathway and reveal the change rule of metabolic flux. It can not only observe the overall metabolic changes of metabolites, but also observe the changes of a specific metabolite, so as to clarify the related metabolic pathways and determine the disorder mechanism.
