Description |
Sulfamethazine-d4 is a deuterium labeled Sulfamethazine (Sulfadimidine). Sulfamethazine is a broad-spectrum bacteriostatic agent that is similar in structure to para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA). It can compete with PABA to act on the difolate synthase in bacteria, thereby preventing PABA from being used as a raw material to synthesize what bacteria need. The process of folic acid reduction reduces the amount of metabolically active tetrahydrofolate, which is an essential substance for bacteria to synthesize purin, thymidine and deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), thus inhibiting the growth and reproduction of bacteria. |
