Application	The labeled sodium salt of fomic acid. Used as a buffering agent for strong mineral acids to increase the pH. Also used as a food additive and as a de-icing agent. Used in several fabric dying and printing processes. Can also be used as a cryoprotectant for X-ray diffraction experiments on protein crystals.
